What you see is what you get with this fun loving family. Married with three biological children ages 13, 10 and 8, this family’s journey to foster care was long thought about. Before they were even married, adoption was on the table. Dixie had always wanted a large family, imagining four kids filling their home with love and laughter! Like many families, Ryan and Dixie were very aware of the emotional toll fostering would have on their children. It wasn’t something they took lightly. Although the desire to foster had been on their hearts for a while, they felt it important to wait until they felt their biological children could understand a bit better what the process was all about. They also worried whether they wouldn’t have time for another child or the time for parenting a child out of trauma. Now, after having three children from foster care in their home, they can’t tell you how it happens exactly, but they can tell you they've made it work. “You just do it. You do what’s important and it all works out.”
Dixie is a stay at home mom and Ryan works for a local engineering firm. Together they would describe themselves as lovers of the outdoors, the lake, and of being open and inviting. Dixie says above all, seeing the growth of their children physically, emotionally and socially has been the most powerful aspect of inviting foster care into their home. As this family continues to open their doors, we look forward to following their journey into foster care and potentially adoption! Good Luck, we’re cheering you all on!
